Justin Timberlake arrested for DWI in Sag Harbor, cited for running stop sign and swerving lanes (2024)

Justin Timberlake was arrested on DWI-related charges shortly after midnight Tuesday in Sag Harbor, NY, Page Six can confirm.

The “Mirrors” singer, 43, was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and cited for two traffic violations: failure to stop a stop sign and failure to keep right.

He posed for a mugshot with visibly bloodshot eyes after being taken into custody.

Timberlake wasreleased from the police stationwithout bail Tuesday morning,looking downcastin a black hat, sunglasses, a black shirt over a gray graphic tee, light-wash jeans and white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers with his prominent Hamptons attorney, Edward Burke Jr., by his side.

His next court date is set for July 26, but we’re told he will not have to attend the procedural hearing.

A source tells Page Six that the former *NSYNC member was pulled over after having dinner with friends Monday night at the historic American Hotel in Sag Harbor, where “there were cops stationed outside.”

Our insider shares that the arresting officer “was so young that he didn’t even know who the pop star was,” adding, “He didn’t recognize him or his name.”

We hear Timberlake, who was driving a gray 2025 BMW vehicle, failed a field sobriety test and repeatedly refused to take a breathalyzer test.

“His friends were telling the police, ‘Let him go, let him go,'” our source says.

It is not known whether Timberlake’s wife, Jessica Biel, was at dinner with the group, as she was seen filming the TV series “The Better Sister” in Manhattan earlier Monday.

A criminal complaint obtained by Page Six states that the “Friends with Benefits” actor claimed to have consumed only “one martini” at the posh Long Island hotel before following friends home.

However, police noticed he had “bloodshot and glassy eyes” in addition to “a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath during the investigation, according to the documents.

“He was a gentleman,” a second source tells us. “He didn’t show any entitlement at all. He did refuse the tests, but that is his right.”

Alcohol- and drug-related violations in New York include DWI (driving while intoxicated), which indicates the offender had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .08 or higher, and DWAI (driving while ability impaired), which is a BAC of more than .05 but less than .07. The state does not use the term DUI (driving under the influence).

Timberlake’s rep did not respond to Page Six. Burke had no additional comment.

The Grammy winner is currently in the midst of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour in support of his sixth studio album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” which he released in March.

He performed at the Kaseya Center in Miami last Saturday and has two concerts scheduled for this Friday and Saturday at the United Center in Chicago followed by shows next Tuesday and Wednesday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

It is unclear whether Timberlake will have to postpone any of his tour dates due to his legal drama.

The second source tells Page Six that the “Cry Me a River” performer told the arresting officer “under his breath, ‘This is going to ruin the tour'” after being busted.

“The cop replied, ‘What tour?’ Justin said, ‘The world tour,'” according to the insider.

The “SexyBack” crooner, whom we’re told has “a real drinking problem,” has not spoken out about the incident on social media, where he last posted Sunday in honor of Father’s Day.

“My 2 greatest gifts. I learn more about myself everyday just because you both chose me to be your Daddy,” he captioned a pair of photos with his two sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 3.

“I will always be there for you through your peaks and valleys… to lift you up and show you how high you can take this life and to pick you up when you fall. And, of course, to flood you with insufferable Dad-jokes all along the way. I love you both so much. Thank you for giving me my biggest purpose.”

Timberlake shares both children with Biel, whom he married in 2012.

While this is the former Mouseketeer’s first known arrest, he is no stranger to controversy.

Timberlake has faced two decades’s worth of backlash from fans of his ex-girlfriend Britney Spears after he publicly accused her of cheating on him during their three-year relationship in the early aughts.

The “Trolls” voice actor issued a belated apology to Spears in 2021, writing on Instagram that he had “failed” the “Toxic” singer, 42, and wanted to “take accountability” for his “missteps.”

In his since-deleted post, Timberlake also apologized to Janet Jackson for infamously exposing her breast during their 2004 Super Bowl halftime show, saying he “benefitted from a system that condones misogyny and racism.”

Biel, 42, also has been on the receiving end of a public mea culpa from her husband after he was caught holding hands with his “Palmer” co-star Alisha Wainwright in 2019 during a drunken night out.

Timberlake acknowledged on social media at the time that he had “displayed a strong lapse in judgement [sic]” in an “embarrassing situation” — but denied cheating on his wife.
