MIT Organization Chart
Leadership and organization at a glance
The MIT Organization Chart provides information about MIT’s academic and administrative organization and leadership. Three charts identify the Institute’s senior officers, the leaders who confer on matters of academic policy, and the officers of the MIT Corporation. The site also includes an expanded reporting list that shows the units that report to each senior officer as well as a repository of the officers’ letters to MIT community, key reports, and projects.
Contact us to update a senior officer’s information. To update a senior officer’s staff directory, please email the Offices & Services Directory listing editor by clicking “Request a Change” on the directory page.
MIT Facts
Popular compendium of essential facts about MIT
MIT Facts provides an annual overview of the breadth of the Institute’s academics, activities, and culture, for people exploring MIT and community members interested in engaging them. This essential reference tool includes key information about the Institute’s organization, academic and research programs, enrollment, financial data, and much more.
MIT departments, labs, and centers can purchase copies of the current edition from Internal Communications using an MIT cost object. Books are sold in packs of 10 at a cost of $10 per pack. To place an order, simply tell us how many you need, where to send them, and which account to charge. Please include your name and contact information with your order. Books will be sent via interdepartmental mail.
Visitors to campus and others beyond MIT who are interested in obtaining an MIT Facts book can pick up a copy at the MIT Welcome Center in E38.
The complete collection is available for review in the MIT Libraries.
We contact contributors each fall for updates. Please refer to our email request for instructions on updating information and due dates. Contact us if you have questions.
MIT Bulletin (Course Catalog)
MIT’s official academic information at your fingertips
Published each August, the MIT Bulletin, also known as the Course Catalog, provides a comprehensive description of the Institute’s academic policies, programs of study, and course descriptions.
Subject schedules by term are available on the Registrar’s Office website.
Any page of the MIT Bulletin website can be downloaded as a fully formatted PDF (click Print in the upper right corner of the page). In addition, the full Course Catalogs and Subject Descriptions from 2006 forward are available from the MIT Bulletin archive page. Editions of the MIT Bulletin from 2005 and earlier are available in the MIT Libraries.
MIT offers a limited selection of subjects for matriculated MIT students during the summer session. The MIT Summer Session Catalog, available in April, provides course descriptions and schedules, as well as information about registration, tuition, and housing for the Summer Session.
The MIT Bulletin Help website provides guidelines and instructions for content editors to update their sections. If you have questions about your content, please contact Internal Communications.
Offices & Services Directory
Find who and what you need, from A to Z
The MIT Offices & Services Directory contains contact information for many of the Institute’s offices, departments, labs, centers, and programs. Editors in the respective offices maintain the directory listings and update them as needed. Most entries for people in the Offices & Services Directory are refreshed daily from information that individual staff members provide through Atlas.
If you are an Offices & Services Directory editor, you can log in to update your listing(s). If you cannot log in, need to be granted access to the system, or need to add/remove a listing, contact Internal Communications.
If you have any questions about using this system, download our quick card reference for editors.
If you are listed in the Offices & Services Directory and need to update your personal information (e.g., name, email, office location, or phone), you must make those changes through Atlas. Your changes should take effect in the Offices & Services Directory within 24 hours; if they don’t, contact us.
If you have changed offices and should be removed from or added to a new listing, please contact the listing editor(s) by clicking “Request a Change” from the listing(s).
To update your People Directory listing or your title, contact your local HR representative. We cannot assist you with changing any title or other personnel information that appears in the People Directory.

We solicit annual reports directly from departments, labs, centers, and institutes in late spring; reports are due on the second Friday in August each year. Please consult the Preparation Guidelines and Style Sheet for help in writing and formatting your annual report.
